Bitton and Street must try again after Vase draw
FA Vase: Bitton and Street replay on Wednesday at The Recreation Ground to decide who goes through to the fourth round of FA Vase after two hours of-end-to-end football failed to provide a goal at The Tannery Ground.
With Bitton manager Andy Black sunning himself in Egypt, his assistant Martin Dyer took charge and he said: "We lost here in the league recently and a draw was a fair result."
A good run from halfway by Street's James Bisgrove ended with a shot which just curled wide of the upright with Bitton keeper John Rendall struggling to cover.
Bitton had the better of the second half, with Michael Meaker wasting a couple of good chances.
Matt Tiley missed a last-minute chance of giving Bitton victory, but it needed a couple of fine saves by Rendall, particularly one from Kye Palmer, and a goalline clearance from skipper Danny Hallett to ensure Bitton of a draw.
In a clash between Toolstation clubs, it was Bideford who went through 2-1 at home against Frome Town after taking an early lead through Ian Down.
It needed fine saves from goalkeeper Ryan Draper to deny Jamie Cheeseman and Leon Fussell an equaliser.
Strikers Matt Rawlins and Matt Salter both wasted second-half chances for Frome before Rawlins finally equalised in the 67th-minute. Five minutes later, substitute Ben Wood's well-struck shot beat goalkeeper Richard Fey.
The game between Larkhall Athletic and Wimborne Town was postponed, while the other Toolstation club involved at this stage, Willand Rovers, lost 1-0 at Wessex League VTFC.
