Bishop of Bristol attacks Oscars host Seth MacFarlane for "crossing boundaries" of taste
THE Bishop of Bristol has attacked the ethics of the Oscars, claiming that Seth MacFarlane’s hosting of the ceremony was “hardly family entertainment”.
In his online blog, the Right Reverend Mike Hill said American actor Seth MacFarlane’s hosting of the Oscars Ceremony last month was ill-conceived.

Bishop of Bristol Mike Hill says Seth MacFarlane "crossed boundaries of taste" when presenting the Oscars
“His gags about rape, domestic violence, led off with a smutty song about how many A-list celebrity womens’ breasts he had seen in movies,” the bishop said. “Oscar groupies and the wider media were enraged by the boundaries he crossed for the sake of humour.
“But what would you expect?” Bishop Mike added. “Anyone who has watched the TV cartoon show he created, Family Guy might have guessed what might follow.

“This is yet another TV show that gets its audience, creating humour by pushing the boundaries of decency, and though it is very popular and probably well done, I have often wondered whether shows like Family Guy have an effect on those who watch them in terms of their own desire or ability to live within boundaries. The truth is that we just don’t know.”

“Given the publicity that 'Men of God' are getting recently I would have thought our Bishop would have maintained his dignity and said nothing.
I bet I could find more stories a about pedo priests than Seth McFarlane in the BEP over the last fortnight.”

“Irrespective of the fact that this person's opinion is increasingly irrelevant in this day and age, perhaps he should look closely at the main character in his (fictional) guide book.
As Professor Dawkins rightly points out: ""The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully".”
