Billy and Newman spearhead Ashton goal spree
Billy Evans and Newman Ball took the scoring honours as Ashton A beat Keynsham 10-2 on aggregate in Division A.
Hat-trick hero Evans' clinical finishing was the difference between the teams in game one, which Ashton won 3-2. Keeper Aidan Jones also excelled, pulling off a series of fine saves.
The second match was dominated by Ball, who scored four of the goals, and Sam Hilton, who bagged a brace, in the somewhat flattering 7-0 win.
Keynsham had plenty of chances and only Kyle O'Driscoll's superb goalline tackle denied them a goal. Ashton defender Steve Jeary had the final word with a shot from outside the box which rifled past the luckless Keynsham keeper.
Highridge United came through a tight two games with Bristol City JSC to pip the hosts 3-2 overall in another Division A clash.
The only goal of the first game came from United's star performer Bradley Caton, after Cody Stiddard had hit a post.
At the other end, James Hayter made a string of fine saves, while Declan Hurst, Jack Greenslade, Jack Knight and Simon Kane all performed well.
The second match was even closer with City taking the lead before Jay Baker's brilliant strike made it 1-1.
City hit a post from the penalty spot before regaining the lead in the second half, only for Jordon Pratt, who ran the centre of midfield for Highridge, to equalise and hand his side the aggregate honours, helped by sterling displays by Jake Minton and Jordan Bateman at the back, and Louis Elson and Dean Hill on the offensive.
Ashton Boys B swept to a 5-1 Division B victory over AEK Boco.
Goals from Cearain Hogg and Callum Lennard sealed a 2-1 first-game victory, Boco replying from a corner to set up a tense second match.
Callum Berry had a hand in both Ashton goals and Finn Thorton and Tommy Shipway defended well.
Two goals from the stylish left foot of Josh Keane and a first-ever strike for Sid Dicks earned Ashton a 3-0 win in the second game. Jo Coles was a rock at the back in a fine overall team performance.
In the same section, Fry Club Colts finally wore down a talented and determined Brislington Juniors side to record a 3-2 aggregate victory.
Brislington won the first game 2-1, taking the lead early on when Ben Thomas fired home from the halfway line.
Ben Parsons scored a deserved equaliser for Fry's from a Kieran Watson pass but, with time running out, Milo Ayres struck a dramatic winner for Brislington.
Fry's seized control of the second match and went ahead in the first five minutes, Joe Siddall's low drive taking him to 13 goals in 11 games since making the switch from goalkeeper to striker.
Brislington fought hard for an equaliser but Fry's keeper Arthur Parsons was in commanding form and Charlie Parsons' strike sealed a 2-0 success – their eighth win in nine games.
Longwell Green SC squandered a 4-1 aggregate lead as they drew 4-4 at Whitchurch.
Longwell started slowly in game one and keeper Jamie Griffin made an excellent early save before Whitchurch took the lead. Reece Dimond twice went close to scoring after the break before Joe Harding equalised from the penalty spot and a powerful late strike by Tom Frankcom sealed a 2-1 win for the visitors.
All looked good for Longwell as they surged into a 2-0 second-game lead through Ryan Jones, courtesy of Sam Williams' superb cross, and Williams' sizzling strike.
Whitchurch hit back hard after the interval, however, and Archie Rawlings was kept busy while defender Matt Pope produced some important clearances. But despite James Gulliford and Ben Bielecki going close to extending Longwell's lead, Whitchurch managed three late goals to give them a 3-2 win and tie the overall scores.
Winterbourne United completed their Division C programme in style with a 15-3 aggregate win over St Nicholas.
Ryan Sharpe gave them the perfect start, firing home following a sweeping move inside the first few minutes. Dominic Jewell doubled the advantage before Saints reduced the arrears to 2-1 at the break.
A quickfire Benjamin Parker hat-trick was supplemented by a Kieran Slade strike as Winterbourne dominated possession in the second half. However, Saints grabbed a late consolation through a raking effort from distance which gave keeper Liam Fitzpatrick no chance.
Winterbourne romped to a 9-1 win in game two, led by Arlen Fitzgerald, who was in unstoppable form by netting four goals and unselfishly setting up two others.
Will Harriss capped a fine midfield performance with a brace and Thomas Parker also grabbed a double as Winterbourne turned on the style.
The industrious Thomas Wheeler completed the scoring in an excellent team effort.
