Kevin Bloody Wilson Thursday, October 18, Colston Hall, Colston St, Bristol, 8pm, £19.50. 0117 922 3686 / www.colstonhall.org

This earthy Australian musical comic is celebrating 25 years in the business this year – and he's marking it with what we are told will be his last-ever UK tour. Your final chance, then, to catch Wilson's unique blend of expletive-laden comic songs and offbeat observation.

Stand Up for the Weekend with Michael Smiley and co. Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13, The Comedy Box at the Hen and Chicken, North St, Bristol, 8.45pm/doors 7.45pm, £10. 0117 902 0344 / www.thecomedybox.co.uk

Smiley is a quick-witted Ulsterman who plies a mix of fine physical comedy and evocative tales of growing up in working-class Belfast. He's joined tonight by Tom Deacon, a Radio 1 DJ and upcoming comic who manages to be articulate and confessional, as well as streetwise and cool.
