Big Brother's Josie Gibson opens Southmead SCBU fundraiser
BRISTOLIAN Big Brother winner Josie Gibson officially opened a sale raising funds for Southmead’s special care baby unit.
The fundraising event was organised by Hanham mum Vicky Mersey, who witnessed the work of the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) first hand when her daughter Carys had to be delivered 11 weeks early to save both mum and baby. Mrs Mersey had pre-eclampsia and the youngster was delivered early, weighing just 2lb 4oz.

Her daughter is now almost three and is doing well and Mrs Mersey wanted to do something to say “thank you” to the unit where Carys spent her first eight weeks.
Miss Gibson opened the sale at Hanham Community Centre yesterday before buying a few items herself and posing for photographs with other people who attended.

The sale has raised more than £2,500 for the Southmead NICU after match-funding through Barclays where Mrs Mersey works.
“Josie was so lovely, she’s still a good old down-to-earth Bristol girl,” Mrs Mersey said.
The money is going towards a fund set up by two NICU nurses who are trekking the Great Wall of China.

“"BRISTOLIAN Big Brother winner Josie Gibson"
Surely even you could understand that Stayclassless...”

“I'm guessing she does more than you to put Bristol on the map "stayclassy" (oh the irony) I am the organiser of the event above and whether or not you are a fan of Josie, her attendance gave us a big boost. You may see a "neverwas with big t*ts" but I see a girl that doesn't claim to be anything more than a regular girl from Bristol but yet uses the fact she is in the limelight to support many charity events, including mine. I doubt you can claim as much. Your comments reflect more on you than Josie I'm afraid.”
