Better to get more PCs
Yes, when and how do we spend public money wisely? (Opinion, March 25). A recent advert for public-service posts made me ponder the very same point.
When every town and county in the land is lamenting the lack of a visible police presence, I gnashed my teeth this month when noticing a local constabulary advertising for media relations officers (four posts!) at nearly £30,000 a year each.
Does that force not already have more than one? Do they work at night? Impossible to believe.
It may be counter-intuitive in this day and age, but would not four further full-time constables be of more use?
I hesitate to comment on the advertised post of domestic abuse clerk (at a local police station) for two and a half days per week.
Does every operational police station have such a clerk?
If so, domestic abuse in the South West must be a problem of national concern and worthy of immediate Government action.

“:| The problem affecting this country is again clearly identified. .
"They" are just try to manage 'opinion' and our 'perception', rather than get on with the job with which they have been entrusted. . ONCE AGAIN, "Someone else's money" is just frittered and wasted.”
