Solo artist Beth Rowley is judging a new music competition in Weston-super-Mare tonight.

Beth, 27, who grew up in Knowle, released her first album Little Dreamer last May and was nominated at the 2009 Brit awards for Best Female Solo Artist.

The Footprint – Put Your Stamp on the Music Industry competition is being launched by Julie Derrick in memory of her son Charlie, guitarist with the Bristol-based John Fenlon Blues Band, who died aged 20.

It aims to help young musicians in the area and funds raised from the competition will go towards the Charlie Derrick Music Bursary at Worle School.
