A play area in Berrow could receive a £50,000 cash injection if residents get behind it and vote in a People's Millions lottery scheme.

Berrow Parish Council applied to the lottery in May asking for funding to revamp the play area on the village green.

Last month it discovered the scheme had been shortlisted and will now go head to head with other shortlisted entries.

The project will transform the old-fashioned play area into a safe, modern and challenging play environment that is open and accessible to all. Council chairman, Jenny Bentley, will appear in a short video about the project to be shown on ITV asking for people to vote.

She said: "Our project, Berrow's Empowering Play Area (BEPA), will be featured on the ITV West Country regional evening news programme on November 23.

"You will be asked to choose between our project and one other project from our ITV regional news area. The one that receives the most votes will be declared the winner and will be given a grant of £50,000."

Voting lines will be open on November 23 only, between 9am and midnight.
