Bernadette's put on match to raise funds for William
St Bernadette's are to host a charity game on Sunday (1pm) in aid of Exeter and former Bristol hooker Saul Nelson's three-year-old son William, who has cerebral palsy.
Saul's star-studded XV take on the Bristol Dockers' side of Combination stalwarts, and will be raising money to send William on a week of intensive therapy in Bedford.
Programmes will be on sale, while prizes in the raffle include signed shirts donated by Bath, Bristol and Gloucester, two tickets for England's forthcoming international against Argentina, and four tickets to any home Bristol game.
● Barton Hill and Southmead lock horns on Tuesday in the last remaining Charles Saunders Combination Cup first-round clash to be staged at the Portway Development Centre (7.30pm).
North Bristol pulled out of this week's scheduled meeting with Cleve because of front-row availability issues.
That means Cleve go into the quarter-final draw with Avonmouth, Clevedon, Keynsham, holders Clifton, Hornets and Dings Crusaders.
● North Bristol's Old Boys Society stage their annual reunion at Oaklands tomorrow (noon) ahead of the home league clash with Berry Hill, which kicks off at 2.30pm.
The Charlie Hill day – named after the man who gave a lifetime of dedicated service to the club before passing away in 2002 – is open to all former players and members.
● Frampton Cotterell ended a five-match losing streak with a comfortable 35-10 home win over Ashley Down in the Charles Saunders Combination Vase.
First-half tries from Matt Lawrence and Mark Davies put Frampton in charge before Mark Chadwick came off the bench to claim his first try in seven years with the club.
Further scores from Phil Murphy and Sam Jones, on his debut, and John Stewart wrapped things up for Frampton, who are now away to St Bernadette's.
In the other quarter-final ties, Saracens will be home to Old Bristolians, Kingswood entertain Bishopston, and Old Colstonians or Aretians take on Gordano.
● RFU chief executive Francis Baron was a busy man as he concluded a series of roadshows with a visit to Gloucestershire.
He spent Saturday morning at an Under-18 ladies' match at Hartpury College before watching Bristol Saracens defeat Richians. Baron then arrived at Thornbury following the club's league win over Old Centralians.
