Famed for its diverse food culture the producers of the show came to Bristol to find its best fish and chip shop. A little research soon had them seeking out the Bedminster chippie which won The Post's Best Fish and Chip Shops competition.

Jim Marriott, who has ran the popular shop since 1959, said of the experience: "It was our 15 minutes of fame and it was a lot of fun."

"It's great to represent the whole country and show them how we cook traditional fish and chips."

The Georgianna Chez Vous show airs on the French cooking channel Voyage Culinaire and stars Georgianna Viou who found fame on the French Masterchef series and now has her own restaurant and cooking school in Marseilles.

A television crew of seven people including Georgianna herself visited the Argus Fish Bar and shot staff at the Bedminster chippie carefully preparing their renowned cod and chips.

They filmed at the shop for about three hours, then stayed and ate the meal for their lunch said Mr Marriott, who summed up the whole experience as "once in a lifetime".

"When else is a French film crew going to make a TV programme in Bedminster?" he joked.

The programme is due to be broadcast in January 2013.
