Bedminster cafe a feast for the eyes after makeover

A CAFE in Bedminster has unveiled a brand new look.

The Kitchen Garden Cafe, based at the former City of Bristol College site in Timsbury Walk, has been redecorated.

The formerly disused space was transformed into a cafe by volunteers.

It was launched to offer vocational training and work opportunities to local adults with mental health conditions, learning difficulties and those in recovery.

Created in collaboration with Umbrella Support Services, the café provides healthy, affordable food to the local community, using produce grown in its own garden.

The facelift was made possible by a donation of paint from the Dulux Let's Colour Project.

Umbrella Support Services managing director Aeddon Grieve decided to apply online for help from Dulux.

Volunteers from across the community joined forces to transform the area, completing the work in just two weeks.

Aeddon said: "We are extremely grateful to the Let's Colour Project and Dulux Decorator Centres in Bedminster for the paint donation and fantastic guidance.

"We are so happy that we have been able to put our dreams into reality and had we not have received the support from Dulux, it would never have happened.

"The project has definitely brought the community closer, with people from all walks of life pulling together to ensure that it was completed.

"We hope the local community will embrace the café and the important work it is providing for those who need it."
