No Beavon as Weymouth entertain Rushden

Crisis club Weymouth – no nearer a take-over – entertain Rushden this afternoon without the services of this season's top scorer Stuart Beavon, who has joined Wycombe on loan until the end of the season, after which the move will be made permanent.

What's more Lee Phillips – the club's only other recognised striker apart from injured Pierre Joseph-Dubois – serves a one game ban and so utility man Chris McPhee is expected to lead the line today.

More players, still unpaid since the turn of the year, are expected to move out of the Wessex Stadium shortly.

And the future could not be bleaker with boss Alan Lewer looking to bring players in on loan for nothing so the Terras can complete their fixtures.

Lewer, and sidekick Marcus Browning, were expected to leave the club after today's game.

But a change of heart from the management duo, who will continue at least for another week, is the only good news to report at the ailing club.

Weymouth have now lost two of their biggest names in Beavon and former skipper Anton Robinson, who left for AFC Bournemouth a fortnight ago.

But it appears there will be no further departures until Monday's wages payment deadline – then players can walk away from the Wessex to find new clubs.

Weymouth: Knowles, Mawer, Sandwith, Doe, Gaia, Reed, Browning, Williams, Coutts, McPhee, Dixon, Vincent, Reiffer, Tribe, McKechnie, Ironside.

Salisbury City, who got back to winning ways with a vital 1-0 home victory over relegation rivals Woking on Tuesday, face a difficult game at Crawley Town.

They are still without Robbie Sinclair, who is still sidelined with a thigh injury, but a reserve team game against Cheltenham Town has been arranged for next Wednesday in a bid to get his comeback underway.

"Tuesday's result has given every one a feel good factor and hopefully it will give everyone a lift and we can get something from today's game," player-coach Tommy Widdrington said.

The Whites will probably come up against one of their former players striker Robbie Matthews, who joined Crawley on loan until the end of the season recently as part of the club's bid to help clear up the financial problems which have beset them this season.

Defender Scott Bartlett, who has played just over 400 games for the club, has been released by the club due to his work commitments and has become a free agent.

Widdrington said: "Everyone wishes Scott all the best after all the games he has played for the club".

Salisbury City (from): Bittner, Todd, Bass, Clohessy, Spence, Brough, Dutton, Clarke, Fowler, Ademeno, Ruddick, Tubbs, Griffin, Sangare, Webb.
