Beaufort knock-out Lebeq Tavern Courage in penalty shoot-out drama
GFA SUNDAY CUPS: Beaufort earned a place in the third round of the GFA Sunday Premier Cup with a 5-3 penalty shoot-out win over Lebeq Tavern Courage.
Lorenzo Daetani, Scott Wooder and Jamie Conley were on target for Beaufort, with Leon Simpson, Ashley Farrell and Chris MacDonald scoring for Courage.
Lebeq Reserves, of the Regional League, did go through, however, against Katsura. James Laver (2) and Billy Hodge netted for Katsura to force extra-time but Lebeq triumphed 4-3 in the added half-hour.
Easton Cowboys went through with a 4-1 victory over UWE Dynamos. Steve Rice was on target for the student side but a Karem Rendall double, a Paul Coles strike and an own goal settled the outcome.
Ashton saw off Southmead CS 2-1 with strikes from Leon Britton and Lee Delaney. Ben Fry replied for Southmead.
Top scorers in the competition were Stapleton Sunday, who pipped AFC Redland 8-6.
Real Bristol beat AXA Sunday 2-0 and there were five goals in extra-time between All Saints and Downend, who won 4-3 after the teams had been deadlocked at 1-1 after 90 minutes.
Hanham were awarded a walkover win against Post Office Sports.
● Avon Plate Reserves battled through to the third round of the GFA Sunday Minor Cup with an extra-time victory over Southmead CSS.
Doubles from Nick Jump and Ned Keal, plus a strike from Troy Hines were enough to seal a 5-3 success.
Danny McIlwain, Shaun McIlwain and Neil Oxenham-Lane were on target for Southmead.
SWYD United beat Littlesea UK thanks to goals from Matthew Barnes, Adam Chesters, Nicholas Cox and Gregory Harrison.
Sporting Bristol Reserves edged past St Bernadettes 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw after extra-time.
Joint biggest winners were AFC Brecon and CK FC, who both triumphed 7-0, turning over Badgerline and Clevedon Town Sunday respectively.
But the top-scoring game of the competition saw BAWA Athletico Reserves come out on top 6-4 against AMC United.
Not far behind was the Three Lions' 5-4 win over Full Moon Bedminster, while Stoke Lane Athletic beat Warwick 6-3.
Andy Force and Lee Doyle both scored twice as Cathedral City overcame Portishead Rangers 4-2.
Bristol Jaguars needed extra-time to see off Hemplow Rangers 2-1 following a 1-1 after 90 minutes.
Spartans thumped AFC Keynsham 4-0, Almondsbury beat City Darts 5-1 and Shire Sunday defeated West Country United 3-0 to book their places in the third round.
Bristol Athletic Sunday are also through after being handed a walkover win against Portcullis.
