Battling Imperial hold leaders St Vallier
Bristol Under-18 Combination: Leaders St Vallier and second-placed Imperial Saints fought out a 1-1 draw in an intriguing tussle between Division A's top two teams.
Saints soon got into their stride and a slide-rule pass after five minutes from Tobi Akinsola found ace marksman Dean Dagger, who easily beat the opposition defence to slot home the opening goal.
Saints had other opportunities in the first half and Akinsola went close to making it 2-0 after wriggling through the Imperial defence and shooting past the post.
So it came as a surprise to them when Imperial equalised on 35 minutes, Connor Saunders breaking down the left, beating his full-back and drilling the ball into the net from the edge of the 18-yard box.
And it was Imperial who had the best of the chances after the break, Kirk Morgan missing with a header from five yards out, then firing into the side-netting before seeing a spot- kick hit a post and the rebound grabbed bravely by a relieved Rich Sage.
Despite Morgan's efforts, St Vallier held out, thanks largely to Joe Durcan's imperious display at centre-half and Sage's safe handling.
Frampton Rangers notched their second win of the season and left opponents Sartan United firmly rooted to the bottom courtesy of a 4-2 victory.
Jack Williams, Charlie Short, Lewis Hughes and James Hargreaves shared the Frampton goals, while Bradley Thomas and James Godfrey replied for Sartan.
In the Gloucestershire Division, Almondsbury maintained their unbeaten run and stayed at the summit after winning their top-table clash with visitors Charfield 6-1.
Geraint Williams opened the scoring for the home team early on but Charfield equalised with a well-taken goal from outside the area.
Williams doubled his tally to put Almondsbury back in front and just before half-time Ashley Knight made it 3-1.
Almonds took a real grip on the game after the break and Knight scored two more goals to claim his hat-trick before Josh Baker wrapped the match up with the goal of the game, ending a six-man move with a stunning strike.
Improving Olveston held Forest Green Rovers to a 2-2 draw after fighting back superbly from a 2-0 half-time deficit.
The visitors deserved their advantage at the break but the second half was a different story as Olveston started to reproduce their good form of recent matches.
Dan Bendall finished a fine solo run with a great finish to pull one back and when Sam Peplow continued his hot streak with a cool finish after rounding the goalkeeper the momentum was with Olveston.
In a tense finish. the game swung from one end to the other but neither side could force a winner.
