Battle for the South West Championship goes down to the wire
THE battle for the South West Premier Motocross Championship involving Calne's Jamie Skuse and Luke Hill from South Molton, continues in the penultimate round of races at the Little Silver circuit at Exminster, near Exeter, on Sunday.
Skuse holds a 39-point advantage over his rival, but with double points at stake in the final round at Ladram Bay in October, both realise that it's not over yet.
And on this occasion there are several top line aces who could spoil the party, including Taunton teenager Tommy Alba, who won three races last weekend at Garlands Moor.
Then there is Gloucestershire youngster Dan Thornhill, who clinched the British Youth Championship at Matterley Basin, near Winchester, recently.

With events for juniors and pastmasters, it is a 15-race programme which gets under way at 10.30am.
It is an important weekend for around one hundred of Britain's leading hill climb aces who take part in two national championship meetings at Charmouth in Dorset tomorrow and at Wiscombe Park, near Farway, in Devon on Sunday.
With the track recently resurfaced, the organisers are expecting that the current record at Wiscombe will be broken, possibly by title holder Mark Robbins (Worcester), Jim Hodges (Taunton), Ben Wilkins (Lincoln) or by North Devon trio Paul Jeffrey, Peter and Tom Short.
There are sidecars at both meetings and the action begins around 9.30am with each competitor getting half-a-dozen runs.
Tomorrow: South West Classic Trials Association trial, Paradise, Halshanger near Ashburton, Devon (12.30pm). NHCA Hill Climb Championship, Manor Farm, Charmouth (9.30am).
Sunday: Little Silver MCC Premier series motocross, Little Silver, Exminster, near Exeter (10.30am). South West Classic Trials Association trial, Paradise, Halsanger, near Ashburton, Devon (10.30am).
