Sensas Bathampton Avon Aquatics finished joint first with rivals Preston Innovation Thatchers, on 49 points, in the first round of the Angling Times South West Winter League.

It was fished on a Bristol Avon running clear and slow between Swineford & Jack Whites.

Sensas Thyers beat Maver Veals to third place, with 48, while Amalgamated Fisheries/Keynsham Angling finished fourth with 41.

Leading the Sensas Bathampton charge was team captain Kevin Dicks, who weighed-in 28-12-0 of roach, perch, dace and chub at Bitton Brook.

Meanwhile, team-mate Shaun Townsend came second at the first peg at the Swineford outfall, where he alternated between waggler and groundbait feeder tactics with caster for 17-3-0 of bream and 11-3-0 of roach.

PI Thatchers' top rod was Bristol's Tim Ford, who drew peg two and fished both a stick float and groundbait feeder with lobworm to tempt 23-14-0 of bream and roach.
