Blue Square South: Bath City boss Adie Britton is hunting a proven Conference striker to boost his side in the final six weeks of the season.

Goals have been the main problem for the Romans, who host Havant and Waterlooville tomorrow, all season.

"When John (Relish – former manager) went we were 16th or 17th and we have worked incredibly hard to claw our way up into the hunt for the play-offs," said Britton.

"But just when we thought we were in a position to press on we have lost three games in a week against poor opposition in games we have dominated.

"We should have won and it is massively disappointing, but we have to put that behind us now.

"It is quite clear from what's happened where we need to improve. I am talking to the club about that.

"We need to be talking about someone on the edges of the Football League who can improve us.

"If they are not a proven goalscorer at Conference level they are not what we need because if you look at the five sides in the play-off positions they all have Conference level strikers."

Former Bristol Rovers winger Ali Gibb returns to the squad tomorrow after completing a month's loan at Yate Town. The right-sided player broke an ankle in pre-season and is yet to start a game for the Romans.

Britton has doubts over midfield pair Adam Connolly (ankle) and Mark Badman (Achilles).

Weston-super-Mare, who went so close to becoming the fifth club this season to beat leaders AFC Wimbledon last week, face another difficult game at fourth-placed Eastleigh.

Centre-back Charlie Comyn-Platt misses the game after picking up a one-game ban for being sent off against Bath City but manager Andy Gurney is in upbeat mood.

"We gave a very good second half performance against Wimbledon and were very unlucky not to take all three points when we missed a penalty with virtually the last kick of the game," he said.

Play-off hopefuls Team Bath travel to Bognor Regis.
