Weston-super-Mare 1, Bath City 4

Bath avenged their Boxing Day defeat as they took their chances and ended Weston's five-game unbeaten run in the Blue Square South League.

The first half was full of excitement and good football with Bath keeper Jason Mellor bringing off a string of superb saves, but the second 45 minutes was a drab affair, with Bath consilidating their win late on.

Weston went close inside the first minute when Kayne McClaggon forced Mellow to concede a corner and minutes later the keeper did well to turn Ashley Kington's piledriver over his crossbar.

But with their first attack on nine minutes, Bath opened the scoring when Josh Low's cross from the right was turned in by Tom Nicholls.

After Kington was just off-target with a free kick, Bath struck again on 12 minutes, Charlie Griffin heading in Low's corner kick.

Weston responded and McClaggon had a header beaten out, while Ross Stearn had a shot blocked on the line.

On 36 minutes, Weston were awarded a penalty when Jamie Price was brought down and Stearn scored his third goal in two games from the penalty spot.

Minutes later Mellor made a superb double save to first deny Stearn and then McClaggon from the rebound.

Stearn wasted a great chance for Weston on 55 minutes when he fired wide with only Mellor to beat from Price's pass.

Low made the game safe for Bath on 70 minutes when he burst down the right, cut inside and easily beat home keeper Lloyd Irish. In stoppage time, substitute Mike Sttephenson added the fourth.

Weston: Irish, Price, Monks (Diallo 80), Kington, Villis, Jamie Laird, Stearn (Egan 87), Kirk, McClaggon (Grubb 70), Trowbridge, Ingram.

Bath City: Mellor, Simpson, Ball. Burnell, Jones, Connolly, Keats, Allen (Canham 70), Nicholls, Griffin (Stephenson 78), Low (Morgan (74).

Referee: Steven Plane (Pershore)
