Goalkeeper Adriano Basso has revealed that he will try to line up a move away from Bristol City in January after refusing to sign a new deal.

The 34-year-old Brazilian was transfer-listed at his own request during the summer after rejecting a new deal. The Robins had hoped that he would have a change of heart.

However, Basso has reiterated his desire to leave Ashton Gate and can talk to other clubs in January as he will be out of contract next summer.

"I am not happy with my current situation," Basso said. "I won't be signing a new deal and I plan to move on.

"I can talk to clubs in January and that is what I intend to do."

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson this week said no Premier League club had shown an interest in the former Woking man and added he hoped he would perform a U-turn and re-sign with the Robins.

But Basso, who has been City's substitute goalkeeper for most of the season, appears as keen to leave as ever.

“How can a man go from hero to zero in such a short time. From being admired, respected and loved he is now loathed. Who is responsible, his management team or the club. I think there must be a lot of unanswered questions.”

“He will probably finish up like Flapper Phillips who also left Ashton Gate in a huff.

He's now playing in the 4th Division at Crewe.

Unless there are things going on behind the scenes of which we are unaware Basso is a very silly man, wanting to leave a decent Championship club on the remote chance he might be picked up by a Premier League outfit. If he was he would be a bench warmer at best.

It's a great shame because he was popular and usually very efficient with City but no single player is more important than the club.”

“What a ridiculous situation. He will have no job in the summer, then!”
