Paul Hull has re-signed two more players – and confirmed John Brain will be his forwards coach – for next season.

Former Wales international Nathan Budgett, 33, and Darren Barry, 19, will be part of Hull's squad that is expected to reignite Bristol's fortunes.

The re-signings follow hot on the heels of eight other players – Darren Crompton, Roy Winters, Mark Irish, Redford Pennycook, David Blaney, Ed Barnes, Chris Ashwin and Ollie Hayes – pledging their future to Bristol.

"Nathan Budgett and a young guy, Darren Barry, have signed new contracts today," said Hull at last night's BRIS Trust open meeting with the board and new head coach.

"I'm very pleased to have Nathan on board. Straight away we can see the type of forward pack I want."

Budgett, who won 12 Wales caps, joined Bristol in December 2005 from Bridgend and has gone on to make 65 appearances.

Barry, a former Old Redcliffians youngster, has skippered Filton Academy and was snapped up by the club on an Academy contract this season but has spent the campaign at Clifton.

As reported in Tuesday's Daily Press, former Worcester boss Brain will lead the forwards next season.

Brain, who is held in high regard by Hull and the Bristol players, has yet to win over the Memorial Stadium faithful.

But Hull wants the 48-year-old former Gloucester second row, who took over from the popular Martin Haag in the summer of 2007, at his side should the club be in the Guinness Premiership or the new Championship.

"I have asked John to stay on for another season. It is my decision and the board have backed me," confirmed the Bristol boss.

"When Martin left there was a lot of anger from some senior members.

"John had a mountain to climb and it took him a while to get his message across.

"It probably took him about 14 months. There was a lot of anger about.

"But I cannot afford to (get a new forwards coach) and wait 12 games.

"The forwards have to reacquaint themselves with the backs in the first game. We have to start the season running."
