Kentucky Bride Chicken as Bristol couple hold wedding reception at KFC
SHOPPERS and diners stopped and stared as a bride and groom walked into a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant to start celebrating their marriage.
Kalli Buchan and Gareth Pritchard decided to follow in the footsteps of Kalli's parents and go for a fast food reception on their special day.
Money was tight when Davy and Madalene Buchan tied the knot at the old Bristol register office in Quakers Friars back in 1989, so they trooped off to McDonald's.
But Kalli and Gareth, of Manor Farm, Horfield, thought it was good enough for them as well – but preferred the KFC menu.

On Saturday, after the ceremony at the register office in Corn Street, the 30-strong wedding party walked to nearby Castle Park for photographs to be taken before heading down Union Street to tuck into a bucket of chicken and fries.
Kalli said the restaurant staff were eager to be involved when they were contacted and friends had laughed when they were told. She said: "But they thought it was a cool idea."
Wearing a white beaded dress, with a lace bolero, Kalli also had a second celebration during the weekend – her 25th birthday – yesterday.
Gareth, 32, said: "Kalli's mum and dad had their reception in McDonald's and we jokingly said we'd go to Burger King. But we actually prefer KFC so went for that instead. It's just something different and the manager at the restaurant was very happy for us to be there."
Kalli's daughters, Lana, six, and three-year-old Amelia, were pleased with the choice, as was Gareth's nephew, Luke Pritchard, eight, and nieces Alexandra, nine, and seven-year-old Aaliyah .
Aaliyah jumped up and down with excitement and said she was going to have popcorn chicken.
Her mum, Linda Pritchard, of Corsham, is Gareth's sister. She said: "I think they're all happy about it."
Mr and Mrs Buchan, of Hogarth Walk, Lockleaze, said they were happy with the couple's choice of venue.
Mr Buchan, 46, said: "Our wedding was certainly a day to remember. It was the late 80s and although I was working, I wasn't paid that much.
"We walked from the old register office to McDonald's and people were coming up congratulating us in the street. A group of Americans said 'My God, we thought you English were so reserved'."
Mrs Buchan, 42, said: "It's nice to carry on the tradition, seeing as we started one."

“Well we shall find out how proud you are if you were to lose your job due to the economic climate.
I'm sure you'd be more than happy to 'Grab' then.”

“@Graham. Stop Typing.
With regard to those on benefits etc they would most likely end up spending our taxes on lavish do's just because they can.”

“@Lauren: "well at least you're proud! I certainly wouldn't be... why could they not have had a nice reception at home"
Do you not think it would have been a bit crowded to hold a wedding reception in their own home? Or do you live in some sort of mansion?
You missed something out when you said "Not single, twisted and bitter actually..."
"Yet..."”
