Bank staff's cash boost for heart research
Staff from Lloyds TSB in Southville raised £350 for the British Heart Foundation at a quiz night.
Sixty employees from the branch in St John's Road took part in the nationwide fund-raising event called One Big Quiz, which was expected to raise more than £50,000 for the BHF.
Mark Spiers, spokesman for the company, said: "The quiz was fantastic fun for all involved and we're delighted we've raised this amount for the BHF.
"Heart disease is still the UK's single biggest killer and touches most of us at some time in our lives so we recognise the importance of doing our bit to help the BHF."
The event was part of a two-year fund-raising campaign with the BHF, which is Lloyds Banking Group's charity of the year until July 2010.
Douglas Rouse, head of corporate partnerships at the BHF, said: "We are thrilled to have the support of staff at Lloyds TSB in Southville and across Bristol."
