A Pathway woman has been banned from driving for nine months after she was caught speeding twice in the space of 24 hours.

Katie Rummery, 28, of Swallow Drive, was handed six points for the two offences, taking the total number of points on her licence to 12.

Kirsty Allman, prosecuting, said Rummery was caught travelling at 50mph in a 40mph zone on the A38 in Patchway on May 4 last year.

She said Rummery was caught the following day travelling at 52mph in a 40mph zone on the A4174 Station Road in Filton.

Defending herself, Rummery said that although she signed documents to say she was the driver on both occasions, she was not sure she was behind the wheel.

She said: "At that point, people were using my house like a hotel and different people were using my car. I was signing all sorts of paperwork I wasn't sure about."

Bristol magistrates imposed a nine-month driving ban, fined Rummery £100 and ordered her to pay £35 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
