Bailey hits a ton as Knowle West beat Brislington
North Somerset Saturday Conference: Rob Bailey produced the outstanding performance in the Saturday Conference when he scored 108 not out in Knowle West's away win over Brislington 3rds.
Bailey's innings of 108 not out, his second century in three seasons in this fixture, included 13 fours and five sixes as the Westers, set 200 to win in the Division Two game, reached their target inside 27 overs and with seven wickets left.
Darren Weeks (47) put on 74 for the first wicket with Bailey.
In the Brislington innings, Russ Maynard dominated the early part with a fine 52, including 11 boundaries, before Russ Lippett, with three wickets and Clive Bailey, with two, reduced Brislington to 136-7. Their final total was given a boost by a quickfire 50 from James Taylor.
Dave Simmons, of Brislington 4ths, scored 108 not out, with five sixes, in his side's total of 181-9 at Easton Cowboys. Not one other Brislington batsman reached double figures, as extras totalled 34. In reply, the Cowboys were dismissed for 155.
In Division One, Wrington won away to Bear Flat for the first time since 2004.
After Bear Flat made 183-6, Mike Clements (81 not out) and Mick Edmunds (73) guided Wrington to a seven-wicket win.
Backwell Flax Bourton blew their hopes of recording a first win over Bath 3rds. Set 239 to win, opening batsmen Mike Neale and Tim Martin provided the foundation and Rich Hannam top scored with 39, but the lower order could not increase the tempo. Bath won by 60 runs.
Dyrham and Hinton crushed Combe Down by 161 runs, after Matt Garland top-scored with 86 in their total of 254-6.
Salftord Fairway won their first game since their return to Division One with a nine-run victory over Stratton on Fosse, who were bowled out for 151.
Old Bristolians Westbury 3rds were dismissed for 50 at home to Mells in Division One, while their fourth team were all out for 55 at Shepton Mallet in Division Four. Both sides lost by 10 wickets.
Division Two leaders Whitchurch made it four wins in succession beating Weston-super-Mare 3rds by two wickets with two balls remaining in a thriller at Norton Lane.
Mark Shields hit a half-century for Whitchurch as they reached their target of 208.
Grendel (246-5) got back to winning ways after two successive defeats with victory by 35 runs over Exiles (Bath).
Bristol 3rds are still looking for their first away win after losing by 17 runs at Bath Hospitals, who made 161-9.
Harptree Villages made it four wins in succession to stay joint top after crushing Churchways by 72 runs.
Their total of 229-3 was built around a 129-run second wicket partnership between Richard Currell (72) and Simon Matthews, who went on to score 108 not out. The home side were bowled out for 157.
An unbroken fourth-wicket partnership of 196 between Tony Rogers (129) and Duncan Pearce (43) formed the basis of Dyrham and Hinton 2nds' 51-run success at home to GWR Shunters, to remain joint top of the table. The Railwaymen made 209-8.
Old England Bristol Sikhs recorded their first win of the season, with victory over previously unbeaten Ston Easton.
Tom Dunkerly (84) and skipper Adam Krzanowski (63) led the Sikhs to 261-7. In reply Ston Easton capitulated inside 12 overs for 43. Dave Brackley took 5-22 and Ian Henry 3-20.
Nailsea cruised to their third win in succession with a seven-wicket home success over Whitchurch A to go top of Division Four, having been set 132 to win.
