BNP are not the answer
I'd urge people who intend to abandon the mainstream parties in June's local and Euro elections, and there are understandably many of them, to choose the positive, ethical alternative the Greens offer, not to avoid voting and not to vote for the BNP. I agree with letter writer Liban Obiye ('We need better politicians, but not the BNP', Open Lines, May 19).
Plenty of talk about the BNP at the moment. They are getting a lot of frequent, fairly casual mentions in the media as an alternative to the mainstream parties. Their campaign launch received a lot of coverage time on the telly. I've seen their party broadcast and recently I received their Euro election leaflet through my door despite the fact that some Bristol posties have refused to deliver them (and have forced a change in the attitude of their managers, who have now agreed to allow them to refuse!).
The South West Greens lead Euro election candidate Cllr Ricky Knight has refused to share a platform with the BNP at the Bath meeting. He will be present outside the venue giving out leaflets explaining his Green position and answering questions in an impromptu 'people's hustings'.
Glenn Vowles,
Knowle.

“I urge everyone to vote BNP. A little bird told me, (not the female kind, I've never been that lucky), that they advocate letting cyclists jump red lights and ride on the pavements, (the vast majority of us do that anyway mind), so, VOTE BNP. I keep posturing about them being racist, but that is to deflect attention away from how I REALLY feel.”

“PS I also like the point often overlooked. If people do not like this country they can leave. After all if poor people from across the world can get here, risking life and limb to leave their war torn or poverty stricken lands surely you can book a plane ticket and arrange removals? I dont think Chris or Wayne will go though. Cant be bothered. I would rather have a country full of people who can be bothered whether like me they are native British or not. But of course where would they go that is better? Ok Monaco/ South of France might be nice but then there are a lot of Frenchies and immigrants there so no better off eh W+C? Costa Del Sol is more suiting. Why dont you live there? Or OZ? cheap houses. Thing is this country is great. Thats why people want to come here. If you think its a bad, run down place LEAVE BOYS. Grass is not greener on the other side so shut up, stop blaming others and get on with spreading happiness instead of hate.”

“hello Rob, just back from a BBQ. My brother in law is a whisky buff so feel a little high at the moment. I think Wayne is waiting for Mrs Wayne to fall asleep before he ventures onto the computer. Chris is still wondering when Mrs Chris will be back home and if she is still seeing Mr Patel. So peace resumes. I will bid all good people and silly little sheep a good night. Peace and love to all men (but particularly women because I dont battle for the wrong side!) Sleep tight BNP supporters- I still have the list and I am gradually sending one of my turds to each of you in the post but my body isnt a production line!”

“Soarer, once again, your unique look raises a smile adn i find myself agreeing with you once again.
Wayne, lets make it simple for you, just in case Soarers education level is slightly above you own.
I was born with two working class parents, lived in a council house for mose of my earlier years and spent my years to date bettering myself.
I work in excess of 50hrs a week most weeks in a skilled job that a lot of people on here love to slate (albeit for a different and less mentioned arm of the company). I read the Sun, Star, Mirror, Guardian, Times, Telegraph to name but a few so i get a varied outlook on current affairs. I go out and drink occasionally, however, i like to drink at home and speak to my good lady. We work with many different races and i will definately say that we are not racist in anyway. I tolerate anyone that works for a living, black white, orange or purplae with blue spots. Thats how i was brought up.
You really do need to do a bit of research into the BNP (im assuming between sips of White lightening or whatever the cheap cider is these days) and use your computer for something other that searching for pictured of naked women or cats falling of walls.
Then maybe, you will be able to see the wood for the trees and understand something of Soarers words.
Hasta la Vista, its a lovely day, im off work and the missus isnt so im gonna relax with a couple of cold drinks in the back of the garden.
Soarer, i trust you will be enjoying yours :)”

“Just seen your last post Chris. You been on here all day! when the sun is shining? Sad little racist.
Since when have immigrants undercut British workers? we have a mimimum wage. If someone is prepared to work for cheaper that is simple market economics. Savings get passed on to everyone else by reduced cost to the end consummer. Could you imagine the cost of everyday items if the BNP got in and had their way? You would be much poorer in the pocket. I have already gone into money for pensioners before. very cynical of the BNP to try that one. Pensioners tend to turn out more for voting. They all do it. perhaps instead people of a 'british culture' could start to be bothered to look after their older relatives a bit more like they do in other cultures. cultures where elders are respected and listened to and you arent on the scrap heap in your mid 40's. We have a lot to learn from this globalised and open world.
This country is great. If you dont like it Wayne and chris why dont you pack your bags and just p1ss off to get a better life elsewhere? You are free to. no one is stopping you (unless you have criminal convictions). If not just stop moaning. it is negative, small minded racists like you that this country doesnt need. If I hadnt read your nasty little writing Wayne (I wont even comment about your riddiculous and sinister tirade against muslims) and I judged you on something riddiculous like your colour, or in your case your name, would you think its fair?. Wayne- your parents were lower working class. You are probably lower working class/ working class. You are around 40 and fat. you live in council house and you have a poorly paid unskilled job. Your kids hang around the street late at night drinking and have brushes with the law. you dislike other cultures but love an good curry and take the mickey out of the staff. IS that you Wayne? Or have I unfairly judged you without knowing you?”
