AWARD-winning comedian Jo Caulfield is to appear in Bristol with her brand new show inspired by a shocking conversation with an audience member.

Jo is a regular on many TV and radio panel shows, including Mock the Week and Have I Got News for You, and her observations and scandalous one-liners have seen her recently nominated as the Best Female Comic in the UK.

Her new show Better the Devil You Know was inspired after chatting to a woman who was in the audience of a gig.

She said: "Five years ago I got married in New York. At a recent gig I was talking to a woman who'd done the same thing.

She said: "Wasn't it easy? Pay $50, get your licence, three minutes later you're done. The hardest part is when you get back to Britain and you have to fill in all the paperwork and register it here'.

"I felt my blood go cold – I didn't know we had to do that. Then it hit me like a punch in the stomach – I'm not actually married to my husband."

The realisation that she is, in fact, a single woman, got Jo thinking: "If you could make all your big life choices again, would you do the same things?" and it is on this theme that she has based her new show. She added: "We're going to renew our wedding vows... this time I'm determined to stick to at least three of them."

Jo Caulfield's Better The Devil You Know plays The Comedy Box, Bristol, on Thursday, November 22. For tickets ring 0117 902 0344.
