BRISTOL SUNDAY LEAGUE: Avon Plate got their Bristol and District Sunday League Division I campaign off to a winning start, goals from Tyler Gayle (2) and Andy Makepeace sealing a 3-2 home victory against Lebeq Tavern Courage.

Leaders The Anchor suffered a shock 6-0 defeat at PJ Services, who had goals from Brian Maxwell (4) and Nick Dyer (2) to thank for their win.

Rich Rees completed his hat-trick with two goals in the last two minutes to earn Wizard Wanderers a dramatic 4-4 draw with Golden Hill.

Longreach Athletic ran out easy 3-0 winners at Salmon Solutions with goals from Dan Shorey, Geraint Rogers and Nick Evans.

In Division II, Chris Attiwell, Dale Attiwell and Ben Thatcher all hit hat-tricks as Mendip SBW demolished bottom club Marcliff 14-0. Terry Nutland, Terry Wiltshire and Brad Reeves completed the rout to extend Mendip's lead at the top of the table.

Bristol 5 Seniors kicked off their campaign with a 4-0 away win at Sarafan Sports thanks to goals from Josh Kush (2), Phil and Pete Butterworth.

Brislington 1987 secured their first win, Paul Draper (3), Daniel Bennett and Mark Drake on target in a 5-1 success at Merryweather OB.

Wardies Bar kept up the pressure on Mendip by winning 7-1 at home to BAWA Sports. Tom O'Loughlin and Ross Pullin both scored twice with the other goals coming from Danny Hedges, Arron Tremlin and Niall O'Loughlin.

Shire Sunday took the Division III scoring honours, winning 11-3 at home to Warwick. Tom Povey led the way with a hat-trick for the home side.

Portcullis are still unbeaten after beating The Squire 5-3 with goals from Stuart Nelson (2) Josh Duncan (2) and Jason Parks.
