Avon Athletic complete a promotion hat-trick
Avon Athletic B Under-13s confirmed their third successive promotion with an 8-0 away victory over Yate Rangers A in Division II.
Hugo Burton scored twice early on to put them on their way before Rory Langdon's fine solo goal and Connor Matthews' powerful header from Ciaran Furzland's inswinging corner extended the lead to 4-0.
Yate battled well in the second half but Burton claimed his hat-trick with an instinctive volley from Lewis Thompson Quance's driven corner before Marley Bennett, Thompson Quance and Dan Davison added the rest.
Nick Sibanda's battling midfield performance typified Avon's will to win and, together with hat-trick man Burton, he was Avon's man-of-the-match.
Bromley Heath United are also celebrating after clinching their first win of the Division II season.
They deservedly edged a close contest with a very good St Nicholas A side 3-2 to extend their points tally for the term to four, although they remain rooted to bottom spot.
Despite the excellence of goalkeeper Jack Withers and defenders Ross Morgan, Joe Haynes, Mark Ward and Adam Canning, Heath went into the half-time break a goal down.
But with Luke Ferguson battling hard in midfield, despite illness, they fought back with a Tommy Brain equaliser, only for Saints to reclaim the lead from the penalty spot.
But Brain was on hand again to equalise for Bromley, following a corner kick, before flying winger Michael Norley smashed home the winner.
The outcome was the same in the Nicholas Wanderers-Oldland Abbotonians as goals by Joe Scully, Ashley Cox and Mitch Wise were enough to hand Wanderers a 3-2 victory in the same division.
Oldland were always in the contest and they reduced the arrears to 2-1 when Declan Cooper converted a penalty.
And, after Wanderers had extended their lead to 3-1, Oldland made the final few minutes nervy for their hosts when Will Harrison pulled another goal back.
Avon Athletic collected maximum points from a double fixture with Keynsham Town A in Division I.
They began the first game brightly, sailing into a 3-0 half-time lead through Jamie Matthews' strike and two goals from Callum Evans.
Keynsham gained confidence in the second half and pulled back two goals through Lewis Sealy and Daniel Mackley to set up an exciting finish, but Avon held on to win 3-2.
Avon again surged into a 3-0 interval lead in game two and they made it 5-0 soon after the break thanks to Jamie Matthews (2), Callum Evans, Jordan Ricketts and Tom Day.
Keynsham pulled one back through Lewis Sealy before Abdi Omar added a sixth for Avon. Keynsham, though, were far from finished and three late goals by Nathan Legge offered them hope as they cut the deficit to 6-4, but it wasn't enough.
Bristol Phoenix picked up three more points when they overcame Mangotsfield United A 2-0 in Division IV with an Adam Rugman effort and an own goal.
The Phoenix defence played a big part in keeping their opponents at bay, with Marcus Thatcher and Hernan Rauter impresing.
In Division V, Shire Colts B turned in a great team performance to beat Bishport United 6-2 on the road.
Shire produced some excellent, passing football, scoring three times in the opening 20 minutes through Harry Maggs, Jotham Bowyer and George West.
Bishport pulled a goal back just before the end of the opening period. But Shire continued to dominate after the break, scoring three more goals through West, Alex Darby and Dan Warren's 25-yard free-kick. The home side reduced the deficit with their second goal but Shire finished well on top.
