Attempted assault on Bristol girl on bus
A man tried to indecently assault a 14-year-old girl as she sat on the top deck of a bus in Bristol.

Police said the man, who was white, about 24, 5ft 10in tall and of large build, with short brown hair, sat next to her, touched her leg and attempted to kiss her. She pushed him away and he was seen to run off towards Alcove Road.

“Then I trust you have reported your observations to the Police Pat, as per the article. Its not much good writing here what you saw if you do nothing about it.”

“i'm sure there was a guy matching this description on the 48 bus one evening last week. he appeared to be either drunk, or mentaly ill.
as for security on the bus - what? i cant remember the last time i was on a bus and a situation happened that warrented the need for a security guard! this was an "attempted assult" in a very public place not a rape down a dingy alleyway.”

“they know their parents can't smack them on the bottom.
Not true Mike, my 23 year old and 13 year old were smacked when I thought it warrented it and my children have grown up/are growing up into responsible, sensible adults.”

“I wouldn't say that it's so much a lack of respect for adults, just a lack of fear of any punishment.
They know they can't get beaten up, they know they can't get arrested, they know their parents can't smack them on the bottom.”

“@Mike Ford - fair comment on the lack of respect shown to adults today. I was dreaming of the days when cheeking a conductor got you a thick ear (or exited from the bus) and complaining to parents gave you another thick ear.
Lived in patchway meself about 20 years ago. Rough neighbourhood (or was it that I'm from south of the river originally? :D)”

“Would you want to be a bus conductor? I know I wouldn't.
Was on the 75 about 2 years ago now, 5 or 6 12 year olds sat around me, I had a bad day at work and they started putting on music really loud. I say to the one next to me, "excuse me mate, can you turn that off?"
He looked right in my face and told me to eff off. What can you do? If he was older I would have battered him, but he was only a kid. Conductors would face the same problems. They can't throw them off of the bus, because they'd get done for assault.”

“The comment about Security Guards caught my eye. Bus conductors - bring 'em back. Instant trouble shooter who is not locked in his cab. This would cut down on folk waiting to get on the bus as Aunty Doris sorts through her coppers for the fare or the geezer looking for change of £20
Maybe I should apply for the traffic supremo job and return home ;)”

“Goodness, I hope the young girl is ok. What is happening to peoples level of respect these days. Did anyone manage to help her?”
