A UNIVERSITY student has been celebrating the Cultural Olympiad through a series of new sporting street art works.

Ariana Sefre, UWE Students' Union Vice-President for Sports, is the inspiration behind the project which saw murals appear on the Frenchay campus.

"We want to change the culture of sport at UWE Bristol, help people see that sport is not just for 'sporty' people, but for people of all religions, ethnicities, lifestyles and cultures – it is a culture of community and friendship and that is something for everyone.

"The art pieces will be around Frenchay Campus for the next year to help students see sport in a new light and to bring some colour to campus.

"The long term aim of the project is to change students' perception of 'who' can engage in sports."

“"create art pieces which demonstrate the Olympic and Paralympic values...." Well the best thing would just be to show the Coca-Cola logo then.

The Olympics is all about corporate sponsorship and the hugely over-inflated ego's of the athletes (who, without the Games would be completely unknown anyway).

As for the Paralympics, it's a worthy exercise but it is all about Political Correctness NOT sporting excellence.”
