Arrest over huge cannabis plant
A SUSPECTED cannabis grower was arrested for allowing an illegal plant to grow to a record-breaking height in his garden.
The plant, which topped a 6ft fence, was part of a drugs haul seized by Avon and Somerset police from two neighbouring houses on the Bournville estate in Weston-super-Mare yesterday morning.
-

Believed to be the biggest single plant ever found by the force, it was growing in a back garden on Brue Close next to a plant that had already been cropped. Inside the house, cannabis buds were drying next to radiators and on a clothes airer. A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a class B drug.
Next door, a partially-cultivated plant was found in the garden with the buds in jars inside the house. Weapons including a baseball bat, sets of scales and cash were also seized. A 49-year-old man was arrested.

“totally agree with the last few comments - what makes me laugh/confused is the fact that you get all the anti-cannabis mob crying out for it to remain illegal because it is such a nasty drug yet they find it immensely difficult to understand that all the issues they have regarding the drug have not been controlled or irradicated by prohibition. if anything the cannabis market has flourished during this period and has made some criminals very very very rich and powerful.
it is easier for young children to access the drug now than it has ever been and easier than it would be if it was legalised and properly regulated and yet the anti-legislation brigade spout off about keeping it illegal to protect the children from it.
as OurBads put it - the ignorance and arrogance of some people is truly astounding.
what i would ask is that anyone who is in favour of the prohibition, please write and explain to me why/how you think the prohibition is a success. i dont want to know why you dont like cannabis just why you think the prohibition is working??”

“What a beautiful plant this is. Like all plants on this planet, see how deeply rooted in stillness and peace it is, how connected it is with the oneness of all things.
It is far more conscious than the human being who is stood next to it. It is far more enlightened than the humans who deny it life and label it as "illegal". Illegal? What a deeply insane notion.
When will those who invent and enforce these insane notions, become free from their ego and become part of reality.”

“If you are going to report this, please get your bloody facts right. There is no such thing as an 'illegal plant', there is no such thing as an illegal drug in fact there is no such thing as any 'illegal' inanimate substance. There are, however, controlled substances which are, in fact not controlled by the government but by organised crime.
What is 'illegal' is the freedom to grow such a plant. This is a basic human rights issue and the abuse of the Misuse of Drugs Act. This abuse of power by the government has handed actual 'control' of all controlled substances to international drugs cartels and organised crime. Prohibition is causing far more harm than any of these, so called, controlled substances ever could especially in the case of cannabis.”

“I'm more surprised that it actually grew in this climate, always thought they needed hot tropical weather not drowned and froze most of the year!”

“Wasn't there a woman recently who also had a massive cannabis plant growing in her garden? She didn't get arrested!
