A car was abandoned after the driver failed to stop for police who were called to investigate reports of a burglary in Bristol.

Officers went to Overnhill Road, Downend, just before 5.15am today.

A white Vauxhall Corsa car, with the registration number R468 BBH, was seen in the road but was driven from the scene.

It travelled through a number of areas in Bristol and was eventually abandoned in Cranham Close, Staple Hill.

Three occupants ran from the vehicle and one male was arrested close by. He was being held in police custody today.

Officers have appealed for anyone who saw the car being abandoned or has information about those involved in the incident to come forward.
