Police have arrested a teenager in connection with 20 vehicles having their tyres slashed in Kingswood.

The man, a 19-year-old from Longwell Green, was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to the vehicles on Thursday, May 13.

Police received reports of 23 incidents in an area between Soundwell Road, Orchard Road, Woodstock Road, Hopp's Road, Hanham Road, Bellevue Road, Cross Road and Blackhorse Road.

Karaoke DJ Andy Britt, 41, whose car was attacked said: "They must have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage in total. With recession people just can't afford to be replacing tyres."

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: "This is not a prank – this sort of damage to car tyres could easily result in a driver losing control of the vehicle. Those responsible are reckless to the fact that people could be hurt as a result of their actions."

Officers continue to appeal for anyone with information which could help their enquiries to contact then at Staple Hill Police Station on 0845 456 7000. Alternatively they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Callers do not have to give their names and could qualify for a reward.
