This Saturday, Arnos Vale Cemetery celebrates some of Bristol's many wonderful women and the contributions they made to the city from Victorian times through to the mid 20th Century.

The Wonderful Women Guided Tour marks the 101st anniversary of International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.

Building on last year's sell-out event, this special tour will set the historic record straight, focusing on the women who deserve to be remembered and celebrated at Arnos Vale Cemetery from Victorian, Edwardian and 20th Century Bristol.

A 45-acre haven of peace and quiet, Arnos Vale Cemetery is inhabited by more than 300,000 memorials to Bristolians of all classes.

The cemetery boasts many listed buildings and monuments of regional, national and international importance as well as many fascinating wild plants and creatures.

The Wonderful Women Guided Tour takes in grassy paths, steep slopes and may include some steps, so visitors are asked to wear sensible footwear and warm clothing.

Celebrate International Women's Day at M shed with chocolate, honey and remarkable women.

This Fairtrade Fortnight event, inspired by M shed's Chocolate! exhibition, includes tastings, demonstrations, talks and music, plus exhibition entry to Chocolate!

The evening begins at 6pm with nibbles and drinks and the opportunity to browse the Chocolate! exhibition and stands.

At 7pm, Agueda Odenana, a Fairtrade honey producer from Nicaragua, will give a thought-provoking presentation, followed by a performance by Shanta, a member of BBC National Chorus of Wales. At around 7.50pm, Fairtrade chocolate supplier Divine Chocolate will be sharing their story along with plenty of tastings.

The evening will conclude with a performance from Jama, a Bristol-based collective of musicians of different nationalities and backgrounds, whose music is multicultural in flavour incorporating Latin, Funk and African influences.

Celebrate Mother's Day at The Courts Garden, Bradford on Avon by taking part in the ancient custom of tree dressing.

Wander around the orchard and enjoy reading some poems written to celebrate mums. Then write your own personal poem or message on a wood roundel and decorate it with ribbons, dried flowers and natural finds before hanging it from one of the apple trees.

The Courts Garden is a delightful English country garden with peaceful water gardens, herbaceous borders, organically shaped topiary, stunning flowers and beautiful vistas.
