The widow of a father-of-two killed after a hit-and-run accident in Old Sodbury has appealed for help in finding the driver involved.

Mark Headley was knocked down by a white delivery van on the A432 Badminton Road at 1.45am on Friday, September 19.

The incident happened while the 45-year-old was walking from Old Sodbury towards the A46, carrying a brown bag of take-away food.

Mr Headley lived in Denmark but was British-born and in the area on business.

Almost a month after he died no-one has come forward with information and the driver remains at large.

Mr Headley was born in Yorkshire but moved to Denmark to live with his Danish wife Lise, 45, with whom he had two sons, Kian, 14 and Oliver, 12.

Mrs Headley has contacted the Bristol Evening Post to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

She said: "My husband travelled a lot and was in the area for a few days on business.

"I was in work in Denmark at the time and had a call from my brother about what happened – if Interpol had contacted me it could have taken anywhere between two hours and three days.

"I was in shock. I couldn't believe it. Then I had to tell my two sons their father had been killed.

"I thought it was a nightmare. I wanted him to be in the hospital so all I had to do was go and see him."

Mrs Headley said her husband, who worked in the biogas industry, was "a lovely man" who cared a lot for his family.

She said: "I was visiting a pub in Yate he used to go to and they said all he could talk about were his two sons – he was a very proud man."

Any information about the accident to the Police Collision Investigation Unit on 0845 456 7000.
