I am currently a postgraduate student at the University of Bristol researching for a PhD in Landscape Archaeology and for my thesis I am conducting a spatial / landscape analysis of Southern Command's anti – invasion defences set up mid-1940.

Using various areas as my case studies, my proposal is to conduct a full examination into the type of defence, ballistic capabilities, and social structure set up between June and October 1940, in an attempt to fully understanding the true capability of the defences.

With this in mind, would it be possible to put out a plea for local information / memories of the anti invasion defences set up (included if possible anti aircraft batteries, searchlight emplacements etc).

My contact details are: Philip Rowe, 109 Capgrave Crescent, Brislington, Bristol. BS4 4TN.
