Annual raft race makes a splash with spectators
CROWDS of thousands lined Portishead Lake Grounds to watch fund- raisers make their annual mad dash across the water in the town's raft race.
This year's event attracted 27 teams who battled their way across the lake and around the island to the finishing line.

Overall winner of the race was the entry Rock Le Boat Too from Portishead Le Roc Club.
Second prize went to the BS2.0 team while lifeguards from the open air pool – with their entry Pool Pirates – scooped third prize.

The Carlos Cup for the most sponsorship money raised went jointly to the team from Lidl and Le Roc.
The prize for the best dressed raft also went to Lidl with its entry, Lidl-Birds are Go while the children's raft race was won by the Blue Streak Young Guns.
As well as the fun on the water there were stalls, live music and games for people to enjoy.
There was also an edible boat race where youngsters were asked to make boats out of food and sail them across the lake.
