Parents and residents' in Pill were invited into Crockerne Children's Centre to see work done by youngsters in the past year.

The centre, which is based at Crockerne C of E Primary School in Pill, held its annual celebration yesterday in the main school hall.

Parents, youngsters, members of the public and professionals who attended also took part in music, play and art workshops.

The children's centre has worked closely with existing groups in the area and with health visitors and other agencies to offer various services, including outings, parenting groups, family support and advice, and a health visitor drop-in service.

It has enabled the school nursery to extend the services it can offer, to include lunchtime and whole school day care and education.

Crockerne Children's Centre is one of 10 North Somerset Council children's centres now opening across the district, providing services to children under five and their parents or carers.

Over the next six months new children's centres will be offering a range of services in Portishead, Nailsea and Backwell, and Yatton.

Anyone who wants further information can contact Jane Wells, the children's centre development manager, on 07919 546391.
