The New Canal at Ivy House Lakes, Grittenham, fished well below par for the Carpenters Arms 2,000 AC match.

The top rod was secretary, Phil Terry with a 12-12-0 total catch. He poled maggot at 11 metres off peg 24 and made a brilliant start by catching a 12-4-0 mirror carp on his second put in. Unfortunately, all he caught during the remaining 5hrs 50 minutes was a couple of 4oz roach.

The runner-up was Rob Mills, who poled maggot at 16 metres off peg one and weighed in an 8-11-0 carp plus 5oz of bits. Third-placed Neil Carter fished the same as the winner at peg 20 and included the top silverfish catch of 2-1-0.

The only other two anglers to bother the scalesman were Paul Foxhall and Joe McMahon who took 1-6-0 of bits from pegs eight and 15 respectively.

Brian Waldron finished 19-3-0 clear of his nearest challenger despite making a slow start in the Kingswood Disabled & Over 55s match fished at Westerleigh Lakes.

During the first hour of the match, he fished a maggot feeder between the islands off peg one and had only one carp in his keepnet when he switched to a short pole and his left lakeside margins.

He netted a decent-sized carp on his first put in with a maggot hookbait and then caught quality fish regularly right up to the all out.

Second place went to Dave Farnam with 26-7-0. Farnam fished the same tactics as the winner but unfortunately he waited three hours before switching to the lakeside margins of peg 14 and the delay cost him the match.

Dave Britton finished in sixth place at peg two. He poled maggot and soft pellet at four metres along his lakeside margins and weighed-in the top silverfish catch, consisting 6-11-0 of skimmers and roach, plus 9-12-0 carp
