HELLENIC LEAGUE: AlmondsburyTown boss Paul Weeks has praised his depleted squad for their undefeated start to the season.

John Lock became the latest to join the growing list of Oaklands Park crocks when he twisted an ankle in a work accident, sidelining him for the 2-2 midweek stalemate with Shortwood United.

With fellow centre-back Steve Peters and left-back Danny Haines also out, not to mention several other absentees, Weeks has had plenty of early problems to contend with.

But Almonds, who entertain Kidlington tomorrow, have been lifted by a run of three wins and two draws and Weeks said: "To get a point at Shortwood, who are title favourites in many people's books, was a fantastic achievement with so many good players missing.

"Because we're never fielding a settled side we're not firing on all cylinders, but the players' work rate and fitness levels are seeing us through."

In Division I West, Tytherington Rocks entertain Trowbridge Town boosted by Monday's 1-1 away draw with a Slimbridge side who had won all six of their previous games.

Manager Barry Granger said: "It was a fabulous performance and Danny Thorpe scored again with a great header. Hopefully we can push on from this."

Winterbourne United, who have lost their last two games, entertain fellow strugglers North Leigh Reserves.
