Hellenic League: Almondsbury Town boss Paul Weeks insists his team will prove a force to be reckoned with again.

Almonds, who twice went close to promotion to the Southern League over the past two seasons, embark on another attempt to land higher-grade football, starting at Wantage Town on Tuesday night.

Weeks has recruited strikers Matt Williams and Casey Johnson from Cirencester Town and Gloucester City respectively, while midfielder Simon Gilbert has returned to the club from Larkhall Athletic.

Weeks has lost the services of veteran centre-half Paul Milsom, to Paulton Rovers, and wide-man Paul McKelvanney, to Brislington, but otherwise has the nucleus of last season's Premier Division side.

He said: "I'm confident we have what it takes to go all the way this time."

Tytherington Rocks manager Barry Granger admits his preparations for Tuesday's Division One West opener at Lydney Town have been hampered by a "lack of player commitment".

"It's been frustrating because a few lads failed to keep their promises to sign for us which has messed us up a bit," admitted Granger.

The Rocks boss has, nevertheless, added a string of players to his ranks. Ex-Filton Academy goalkeeper Mark Garbacz has teamed up with his brother Luke at the club, while former Shortwood United midfielders Nick Ackland and James Mooney are on board, as are defenders Danny Thorpe and Dean Kingman from AXA and Winterbourne United respectively.

Striker James Hicks has signed from Chipping Sodbury Town but centre-half Joe Mullins went the other way.

Winterbourne United have included teenagers Jacob Hodgson (defender) and Chris Iles (midfielder) in their squad as they get their campaign underway at Slimbridge on Wednesday.
