Almondsbury Town overcame the handicap of being without eight players to earn a deserved point from a 2-2 home Hellenic League Premier Division draw against promotion rivals Kidlington.

The result maintained Almondsbury's unbeaten start to the season.

Kidlington took the lead when Almondsbury goalkeeper Ben John failed to cut out an inswinging corner and Jordan Parker scored from close range.

The experienced Paul Chenoweth crashed in a superbly-struck 20-yard shot to put Almondsbury level and they took the lead midway through the second half, when Simon Gilbert broke down the left flank to cut inside and score with a well-judged chip.

But Almondsbury were caught cold from the kick-off and Kidlington equalised through Jimmy Deabill.

In Division One West, Winterbourne United built up a 4-1 lead against visiting North Leigh Reserves but ended up defending desperately in the final minutes to win 4-3.

Winterbourne went ahead through Jason Fletcher after 10 minutes, but poor defending at a corner allowed North Leigh to equalise two minutes later.

A Jimmy Potts penalty made it 2-1 and he then completed a quick-fire hat-trick to leave his side firmly in charge.

However, North Leigh made it 4-2 just before half-time and added a third goal in the 75th minute.

Tytherington Rocks manager Barry Grainger was happy to see his side gain a narrow 1-0 victory over visiting Trowbridge Town after admitting his side failed to play well.

Rocks scored the only goal of the game after 75 minutes when Shaun Bridson had a shot blocked and Nathan Irwin followed up to put the rebound away.
