HELLENIC LEAGUE: Second-in-the-table Almondsbury Town enjoyed a seven-goal hammering of Marlow United.

Almondsbury's victory closed the gap on leaders Reading Town, who crashed to a shock 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Highworth Town, to four points.

Third-placed Wantage Town were held to a 2-2 home draw by struggling Old Woodstock.

Jason Wood created the opening for striker Aaron Blakemore to give Almondsbury a fifth-minute lead, with Mike Whittington quickly adding a second.

Ross Stearn scored the third from the penalty spot and he got another from close range, before Lee Bridson headed a corner back across goal for central defender Dale Peckham to make it 5-0.

Cornwall added a sixth, with substitute Dean Griffiths completing the scoring.

In Division One West, Winterbourne United slumped to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Lydney Town. Adam Price put Lydney in front, with Matt Timmins adding a second and Mark Lee scoring the third from the penalty spot.
