Nottingham Forest have been plunged into chaos just days before playing Championship rivals Bristol City.

The Midlands club are beginning their search for a fourth manager in seven months after Alex McLeish stunned the Reds by resigning earlier today.

  1. Sean O'Driscoll: Sacked by Nottingham Forest and now in charge at Bristol City.

The Scot only replaced Sean O'Driscoll as manager at the City Ground in December, but soon fell out with owners, the Al Hasawi family.

Frustrated by his failure to sign George Boyd from Peterborough United on transfer deadline day last week, McLeish blamed his departure on "a difference in the understanding of the development strategy of the club."

Whatever the reason for his departure, it leaves Forest without a manager just four days before they play Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Ironically, City are now managed by O'Driscoll, the man McLeish succeeded at the City Ground shortly before Christmas.

O'Driscoll was sacked following a 4-2 victory over Leeds United – just five months after replacing Steve Cotterill as Forest boss. Forest accrued 36 points from 24 games under O'Driscoll, who left them in eighth place in the Championship table.

Since he departed the City Ground, Forest have won only once in seven games and there is a feeling that there could be no better time for struggling Bristol City to play them.
