Halcon Genelardais faces a familiar task in this month's Coral Welsh National with Wiltshire trainer Alan King's chaser again assigned top weight for the Chepstow marathon.

The handicapper has not relented since the gelding took the Welsh National in 2006 and he had to lump 11st 12lb a year ago when beaten a head by Miko de Beauchene.

Fourth in the Gold Cup, Halcon Genelardais carried top weight yet again to be second in the Scottish National and on his first run of this season behind Joe Lively at Cheltenham.

Joe Lively is second highest in the weights on 11st 3lb along with Star de Mohaison.

The latter, owned by Sir Robert Ogden, has not run over fences for two years but won the 2006 Royal & SunAlliance Chase and has been competing over hurdles.

Sir Robert's racing manager Barry Simpson said: "It's too far away to make any decisions about the race and I will discuss it with (trainer) Paul Nicholls nearer the time."

Halcon Genelardais is second in Coral's betting at 9-1 behind his stablemate Nenuphar Collonges at 5-1.

Last season's Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle winner successfully returned to fences at Bangor recently and would only be required to carry 10st 6lb. The Alner family's Miko de Beauchene is saddled with 11st at this stage.
