The judges have made their choices – and these are the winners in this year's Evening Post Baby and Toddler of the Year competition.

The overall winner, who will receive a cheque for £1,000, is 16-month-old Aisha Nassour.

The winners of the four age categories, who will each receive a cheque for £250, are Beau De Freitas in the zero to nine months category, Skye Roberts in the 10 to 18 months category, Peyton Whitfield in the 19 to 36 months category and Preston Webb in the 37 to 60 months category.

Each of the babies and toddlers had their photo taken by professional photographers in the Mall Bristol, Broadmead before they were printed in the Evening Post and voting began. Then a judging panel chose the winners.

Marcia Mahony, 22, whose baby Aisha has been crowned the overall winner, lives in Redfield with her partner Nas Nassour, 31, a student.

Marcia, a full-time mum, said: "We are so happy – I made such an effort to get Aisha into the final stages of the competition, I filled out loads of voting forms. She is a really cute baby and looked lovely in the photos.

"Aisha started walking about four weeks ago and now she's into everything – especially Christmas trees. We will put the money into her savings account."

Nine-month-old Beau's parents are Karen, 36, and Marco, 35, who live in Fishponds. Karen owns a salon called Cabelo in Downend and Marco is a driver.

Karen said: "Beau is a bit of a character, he is quite cheeky and has lots of girlfriends already. I can't believe we have won the category – he'll get an extra special Christmas present."

Skye's mum is Nikela Roberts, of Hengrove. At the moment she is a full-time mum with her 17-month-old but plans to return to college in September.

Nikela, 19, said: "We really didn't expect this. Every parent thinks their baby is the cutest. I'll be putting the money in her trust fund.

"Skye is lovely, she's very hyper though. She gets up at the crack of dawn and loves pulling the baubles off the Christmas tree and eating all the chocolates."

Three-year-old Preston Webb's proud parents are full-time mum Kirsty Marsh, 30, and salesman Danny Webb, 26. They live in Pilning.

Kirsty said: "Other people have always told me to enter Preston into something like this, so I thought I would have a go. I am really surprised, I didn't think he would make it past the final 20.

"Preston is a great little boy, and gets on with everyone. We'll put the money in his trust fund."

Two-year-old Peyton Whitfield's mum, Kylie Lovell, 20, lives in Bishopsworth.

Full time mum Kylie said: "I'm actually shocked she got into the top 20 so I'm really glad she came in as runner-up.

"I'll spend the money on Peyton and will buy her some new clothes and toys. She's into her dollies and is very happy."

The Evening Post's Katherine Woolley said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the response from Baby and Toddler of the Year 2009 and would like to thank everyone who voted. There were some cute tots in the final so the judges had a tough job in choosing the overall winner and finalists. Congratulations to everyone who made it to the final and to all of the winners."
