Advance notice of Keynsham Library temporary closure for essential maintenance
Keynsham Library will be closed on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 November for Bath & North East Somerset Council to carry out essential maintenance. The scheduled work is intended to contain the problem of a leaking roof which had previously caused the library to close during recent exceptionally wet weather.
As this work will require the use of scaffolding it will not be possible for customers to be in the library during this time. Saltford library will be open on the Tuesday from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm. It is anticipated that Keynsham Library will then reopen on Thursday 8 November at the normal time of 9am.
Councillor David Dixon (Lib-Dem, Oldfield), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: "After carrying out extensive work, including replacement of the flat roof on the exterior of the temporary building, we now have to complete the essential maintenance to the interior of Keynsham Library.
"Bath & North East Somerset Council appreciates that our library visitors may find this frustrating but we have to complete these works as soon as possible in order to resolve the issue and make it safe for our customers and staff. We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding during this time."
