Jack Adams is ready to make his Bristol Rugby debut at Birmingham & Solihull this weekend after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Bristol supporters have not seen the former Gloucester centre in action since his summer move from Kingsholm after he was injured shortly before the opening pre-season fixture against Clifton.

But he has now made a full recovery and is pressing to start Saturday's Championship match at Sharmans Cross Road.

Bristol were 28-23 victors against London Welsh on the opening day of the season – but head coach Paul Hull is likely to make changes to his starting line-up for Saturday's trip to the Midlands. And outside centre Adams, 22, could be one of the beneficiaries as Hull tweaks his side.

"I sprained my shoulder just before the pre-season games, which was so frustrating because I wanted to play for my new club and show them what I can do," said Adams.

"You don't want to go to a new club and not play. It's a strange feeling, because even though you're injured, it's still gutting when you see the team-sheet and your name's not on there.

"You want to be playing – and it was really hard to watch at the weekend. But the physios have got me nice and fit and I'm raring to go this weekend. It's great to be fit again and I'm really looking forward to this game."

Bristol's display in last weekend's opening-day victory was far from polished and they trailed 23-17 heading into the final eight minutes.

But Adams sees no cause for concern after what he felt was merely a typical first match of a new campaign.

"No one thinks it was the prettiest of performances, but the boys did what they could," he said.

"There were mistakes, but there are always going to be mistakes through nerves or unfamiliarity of new players – that's the way things happen on the first day of the season. No one's worried about it at all – it happens at pretty much every club."

Hull also has flanker Redford Pennycook fit again after an ankle injury and he comes straight back into the squad, with James Merriman dropping out.

Birmingham & Solihull, who are coached by former Bath back-rower Russell Earnshaw and have former Bristol men Simon Hunt and Mark Woodrow in their ranks, were beaten 33-10 at Plymouth Albion on the opening day of the season.
