Abseilers' help for hospitals
MORE than 30 intrepid abseilers took part in a charity abseil in Avon Gorge to benefit Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals.
The abseil was staged by Bristol Hospital charity Shine Together, and for the first time ever supporters got to choose which department benefited from their efforts.

The 'open event' on Sunday raised around £10,000 which will go to the Southmead maternity unit, cardiac rehabilitation, Bristol and Avon Multiple Sclerosis centre at Frenchay Hospital and Southmead Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), among others chosen by those who took part.
Kate Ball, 30, of Nailsworth was one of the daring participants to brave the 90ft drop. She said: "I'm abseiling to say a huge thank you to all the staff of Southmead NICU.

"Our daughter Ezree arrived at 24 weeks and four days.
"She was transferred straight to Southmead NICU where she spent the first nine weeks of her life.
"The care she received and the support and friendliness shown to us by the staff was amazing."
Trevor Reid, head of fundraising at Shine Together, said: "What is unique about this abseil is the chance for our supporters to tell us exactly where they want their donations to go.
"We are delighted to see so many people taking part, and helping the many deserving causes here at Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals."
Shine Together is the charity at Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals and raises funds for specialist equipment and enhanced care at wards and departments.
