AWARD winning Aardman Animations has denied claims a satirical cartoon poking fun at Labour leader Ed Miliband has damaged its image.

Political cartoonist Peter Brooks has depicted the politician as bumbling inventor Wallace in a series a cartoons in The Times.

And according to some reports, the unflattering comparison has led to worries that the Bristol-based firm’s image was being damaged. The suggestion was that senior figures at Aardman were concerned about the repeated comparisons between Wallace and Mr Miliband. However, a spokesman for the Bristol-based firm said Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park was a fan of the work of Peter Brooks.

A spokesman said: “We don’t mind these cartoons at all. They are great fun. Peter Brooks is a great cartoonist and Nick Park loves them. There is no truth in the reports at all.

“We admire Peter Brooks and there is no problem whatsoever.”

The spokesman also denied suggestions that bosses at the company would express their concerns at a meeting this week.

“Aardman surely should not damage any of their image by any of this - In fact lets hope Aardman bring back to our screens their own version of the satrical "Spitting Image" after all T.V. is getting pretty dull and predictable these days !!

Ed Millipede would surely have his place and star in the show somewhere along with other polititions.

Lets all give Nick Park and the team at Aardman a big thumbs up !!
After all Aardman is a product produced right here in Bristol.”

“Just watch Ed's mouth when he talks - he is definitely a Wallace & Gromit extra.”
